Ridge South of Baldy Pass a.k.a. Midnight Peak
Because of the unstable weather conditions, rather than going to Buller Passes, we decided to do a shorter hike. In the mountains however, ‘shorter’ does not exactly mean ‘easier’. Completing the 10km (with 1,000m elevaton gain) loop was strenuous. Breathtaking 360 degree panorama view from the summit plus some ridgewalking were definite positives. The very steep descent route sucked big way though.
