Ink Pots via Johnston Canyon

Johnston Canyon has become our usual destination for the New Year’s Day. It is easy to drive there as the Parkway 1A is plowed and sanded.

In winter, there are not many people visiting the canyon, so it is not as crazy busy as in the summer. The giant icicles and frozen waterfalls are always spectacular. Also, the trail to Ink Pots is usually in a decent shape; covered with compacted snow. It is therefore one of very few trails that are hikable in winter.

Happy New Year!

Very much liking the new format and good to see you back. Outstanding photos as always. Johnston Canyon to the Ink Pots is always a great way to enjoy a winter day or to bring in the New Year. Thanks for sharing. Will get in touch as soon as practical. Nearly caught up on 2013 activity and looking forward to 2014.

Thank you for the kind words. I am only aware of two people who regularly visit MMhikes.com: yourself and another friend from Poland. That is likely due to the fact that I don’t post any verbal content, but only photos.

With respect to the new refreshed format, I installed a WordPress theme called Hueman. It is pretty darn good.

There was a number of full-day hikes that we were planning to do last year, but that didn’t happen due to the floods. Hopefully this hiking season will be better.
