The road is closed right at highway 546. There is a major washout at 1.1 km that may be impassable after heavy rain. There is a partial washout at 2.1 km, but this one will not affect hikers. This is a very nice little hike and the views of the canyon are great. The only real downside is cattle herds on the road. Otherwise, the road is in good shape all the way down to Gorge Creek trail head. Those comfortable with off-trail travel can choose to return through Missinglink Mountain. To do so, turn right (East) 350m past the gate and climb onto the ridge. Then continue South along the ridge. Please be aware that black bears are very active in the area; we saw four individual bears!
