Almost the entire length of the trail is below the tree line. No views = boring! The cirque itself is a nice place:beautiful alpine scenery and lots of hoary marmots.
Thanks to snowshoers, the Ink Pots trail is hikeable in winter. Spectacular frozen waterfalls and curious gray jays.
